What Happened
The House Office of Congressional Ethics found "substantial reason to believe" that Ocasio-Cortez accepted impermissible gifts associated with her attendance at the Met Gala in 2021, which she paid for after the investigation began. In 2025, the House Committee on Ethics published its report finding that while Ocasio-Cortez tried to accurately assess the value of the items received and pay in advance, the amounts were too low and she was assessed to owe additonal sums to the vendors involved.
