CELEBRATING 40 YEARS OF LANCASTER LEBANON HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 58 (Friday, March 27, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 58 (Friday, March 27, 2026)] [Extensions of Remarks] [Page E283] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] CELEBRATING 40 YEARS OF LANCASTER LEBANON HABITAT FOR HUMANITY ______ HON. LLOYD SMUCKER of pennsylvania in the house of representatives Friday, March 27, 2026 Mr. SMUCKER. Mr. Speaker, I rise to celebrate Lancaster Lebanon Habitat for Humanity for their 40 years of positive Impact. Habitat for Humanity is an inclusive Christian ministry and nonprofit organization that builds, repairs, renovates, and revitalizes affordable homes alongside people in need of a decent place to live. Originally established as the Lancaster Area Habitat for Humanity in 1986, the organization merged with its Lebanon affiliate 30 years later in 2016. Over the past 40 years, Lancaster Lebanon Habitat for Humanity has strengthened and renewed the counties it serves. Notable projects include the development of a community of 70 affordable homes known as Emerald Valley in Lancaster City and the transformation of the Wooden Nickel Tavern into their first office space. Current and upcoming projects include the five-home Linden Street Build in Columbia and the eight Lancaster City-based Wheatland Build, which will utilize federal funds from the HOME program. Lancaster Lebanon Habitat for Humanity also operates the ReStore, a home improvement donation store that helps fund their construction efforts. Through sweat, grit, and thousands of work hours contributed by both prospective homeowners and volunteers, Lancaster Lebanon Habitat for Humanity has made homeownership a reality for over 300 families. I thank the organization for its positive impact on our community, and I wish them another 40 years of success. I look forward to seeing all they accomplish next. ____________________
