Mr. MARKEY submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill S. 1383, to establish the Veterans Advisory Committee on Equal Access, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows: At the appropriate place, insert the following: SEC. ___. LOAN LIMITS. Section 455(a)(4) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1087e(a)(4)) is amended-- (1) by amending subparagraph (A) to read as follows: ``(A) Annual limits beginning july 1, 2026.--Subject to paragraphs (7)(A) and (8), beginning on July 1, 2026, the maximum annual amount of Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford loans that a graduate student or professional student may borrow in any academic year or its equivalent shall be $50,000.''; and (2) by amending subparagraph (B) to read as follows: ``(B) Aggregate limits.--Subject to paragraphs (6), (7)(A), and (8), beginning on July 1, 2026, the maximum aggregate amount of Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford loans, in addition to the amount borrowed for undergraduate education, that a graduate student or professional student may borrow for any program of study described in clause (i) or (ii) of subparagraph (C) shall be $200,000.''. ______
