Mr. SCHIFF submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill S. 1383, to establish the Veterans Advisory Committee on Equal Access, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows: At the appropriate place, insert the following: SEC. ___. REPORTING OF ALIEN REGISTRATION NUMBERS OF ALIENS DETAINED AT INSTALLATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE. (a) In General.--Not later than 12 hours after detaining an alien at an installation of the Department of Defense, including installations in the United States, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the appropriate committees of Congress the alien registration number of such alien. (b) Definitions.--In this section: (1) Alien.--The term ``alien'' has the meaning given that term in section 101 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101). (2) Appropriate committees of congress.--The term ``appropriate committees of Congress'' means-- (A) the Committee on the Judiciary, the Committee on Foreign Relations, the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, and the Committee on Armed Services of the Senate; and (B) the Committee on the Judiciary, the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Committee on Homeland Security, and the Committee on Armed Services of the House of Representatives. ______
