SHEILA CHERFILUS-McCORMICK of florida in the house of representatives Wednesday, March 18, 2026 Mrs. CHERFILUS-McCORMICK. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize Yohan Blake and include in the Record the following proclamation in his honor: Whereas, Yohan Blake is a world-renowned Jamaican sprinter who has established himself as one of the fastest athletes in the history of track and field, achieving extraordinary success in the 100-meter and 200-meter sprint events; and Whereas, Blake rose to international prominence when he became the youngest 100-meter World Champion in history after winning gold at the 2011 World Athletics Championships, demonstrating exceptional talent, discipline, and determination on the global stage; and Whereas, at the 2012 Summer Olympics, Blake earned two silver medals in the 100-meter and 200-meter events while representing Jamaica, competing among the world's greatest athletes and further cementing his legacy in international athletics; and Whereas, known by fans worldwide as ``The Beast,'' Blake has achieved some of the fastest sprint times ever recorded, including a personal best of 9.69 seconds in the 100-meter and 19.26 seconds in the 200-meter, making him one of the fastest men in history; and Whereas, throughout his career, Blake has inspired countless young athletes across the Caribbean and around the world, serving as a powerful example of perseverance, excellence, and dedication to sport; and Therefore, be it resolved that we, Florida's 20th Congressional District, proudly recognize and honor Yohan Blake for his remarkable achievements in athletics and for the inspiration he continues to provide to aspiring athletes and communities worldwide. ____________________
