HONORING SPECIAL AGENT EDEN HOLGUIN Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 41 (Wednesday, March 4, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 41 (Wednesday, March 4, 2026)] [House] [Page H2379] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] HONORING SPECIAL AGENT EDEN HOLGUIN (Mr. JOHNSON of Louisiana asked and was given permission to address the House for 1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.) Mr. JOHNSON of Louisiana. Mr. Speaker, I begin today with some sad news. On February 19, the House and Senate community lost a beloved and dedicated member of the United States Capitol Police Force. Special Agent Eden Holguin tragically passed away at only 41 years of age. He was a proud veteran and a former Texas State Trooper. For 3 years, he served admirably here as a Capitol Police officer and as a special agent. He was highly respected. Law enforcement is a noble calling, as we all know. It is one that is too often thankless and always demanding. These men and women stand guard on the lines of justice and freedom. They protect all of us who work here, as well as the countless individuals and visitors who come to the United States Capitol every day from across our Nation and across the world. In the face of adversity and danger, every day demands courage, diligence, and professionalism. He brought that every day. We don't take the duty lightly. It is because of Agent Holguin, and so many brave Americans like him, that Congress can carry out its constitutional duties here, that we represent the voices of our constituents, and that we can effectuate the will of the American people safely and freely. Today, family, friends, and loved ones of Agent Holguin will gather to memorialize this hero in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I wanted to come here on the House floor and acknowledge him, as well. We thank them for standing by his side as Agent Holguin followed the demanding but noble path of law enforcement. We want to let them know that our prayers are with them as they honor this brave patriot and celebrate his life, all too short though it was, of selfless sacrifice. ____________________
