Tonight’s vote will allow us to finally pay our men and women in the military, restore critical government services, alleviate flight delays, and allow for SNAP benefits to be received.”</p><p>The measure funds the government at current levels through January 30, 2026, giving Congress additional time to finalize a full-year budget. It includes full-year appropriations for essential programs such as SNAP food assistance, veterans’ benefits, and military construction, while guaranteeing back pay for hundreds of thousands of furloughed federal workers and restoring critical services ranging from air traffic control to national park operations.</p><p>“For over a month, Senate Democrats held up paychecks for military families, air traffic controllers, and federal workers, using them as political leverage,” <strong>Haridopolos added</strong>. “Even tonight, Democrats in the House voted to keep the government closed, prolonging the hardship that millions of Americans are facing. This shutdown was never about serious policy negotiations; it was a power ploy that fortunately failed.”<br><br>Throughout the shutdown, Congressman Haridopolos and his staff continued serving the people of Florida’s Space and Treasure Coasts full-time without pay. Despite limited agency operations, his office assisted more than 180 Floridians and secured over $450,000 in federal benefits for local families.
