MIKE THOMPSON of california in the house of representatives Wednesday, March 25, 2026 Mr. THOMPSON of California. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor Leslie Lew. I have named Ms. Lew as the California 4th Congressional District's Woman of the Year for Napa County. This honor recognizes women who have made important contributions to California's 4th Congressional District in Arts and Culture, Professional Achievement, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, or Community Services. Ms. Lew was born in Los Angeles. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from the University of California, Davis. Ms. Lew is a Planned Parenthood champion with years of advocacy experience across multiple roles in our community. She has served as Chair of the Planned Parenthood Northern California Action Fund, Vice Chair of the Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California (PPAC), Co- Chair of the PPAC Legislative Workgroup, and Chair of the Planned Parenthood Northern California Audit Committee. Ms. Lew has been a long-time defender of justice and quality of life for everyone in our community. Ms. Lew also works with political organizations and candidates to advocate for positive outcomes in our community. She is a member of the Napa County Democratic Central Committee and an elected delegate to the California Democratic Party. She has worked tirelessly to knock doors, make calls, and send texts for democratic candidates across the country. Ms. Lew organized Napa's first postcarding group with RiseUpNapa in 2018. She has also hosted and volunteered at numerous fundraisers for various causes and candidates. Ms. Lew has helped our community with wildfire recovery by creating a shaded fuel break for fire resilience along a key ridgeline between Napa and Sonoma Counties. She is on the steering committee for the Napa County Prescribed Burn Association, and a member of the Good Fire Alliance and the Lake County Ecocultural Fire Crew. Beyond her incredible work, Ms. Lew is a lifelong naturalist and outdoor adventurist. She lives with her husband, Tom Farella, and her children, Daisy and Gabe Farella. Mr. Speaker, Ms. Lew's passion, leadership, and determination have profoundly impacted our Napa County community.
